Here the poet implies the child wants to understand his father’s actions better. The child would like to act the same way, but wants the father to be more understanding towards the child’s needs. Children tell me what is implied in the following lines. 1) Sometimes your steps are fast. Students:- In the above line the child tells his father that sometimes his actions are very fast and it becomes difficult to understand as the child is too small. Teacher:- Good ! 2) Sometimes your steps are hard to see. Students:- Here the child says that some of his father’s ways of thinking or doing are not clear and he gets confused about them. Teacher: - okay 3) I would want to lead just right. Students: - The child wants to choose the right path and lead his follower in a right direction. So he requests his father to show him the right direction. Teacher: - Good! 4) And know that I was true. Students: - The young child wants to be like his father when he is grown up. He wants to lead the next generation. He wishes that he should have the satisfaction of being true which means being correct or being on the right path. Teacher: - Well said!
